      Mary Frances Gilley


      Mary Frances Gilley went home to be with our Lord at the age of 95 on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009. She was born Oct. 1, 1913, in Lindale to Walter Wooten and Sabina Barron Wooten. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1931, and married the love of her life, Ernest Gilley in 1938. A longtime member of First Baptist Church, Whitehouse, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; daughter, Lisa Gilley; great-grandson, Kolton Riley Standifer; and brother, Ernest Wooten. Mrs. Gilley worked for Sledges, Weingarten?s and retired from Gibson?s Discount Store.


      ?Maw Maw? loved her family, her friends, her church and her Lord. She was an avid game player, wonderful cook and had a great sense of humor. Her children, grandchildren and friends spent many happy hours playing chicken foot, Shanghai and many other games with her.
      She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Arlene Gilley of Tyler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Ernest Langford of Lufkin and Derene and Riley Standifer of Frankston; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Runnels of Atlanta, Texas; and sister-in-law, Betty Wheeler of Tatum.


      A memorial service in her honor will be held Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Whitehouse with Dr. Ray Davis presiding under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Whitehouse.
