Services for Robert E. "Bear" Kelly will be 10 a.m. at Pine Springs Baptist Church Wednesday, March 24, 2010, with Dr. Charles Paschall officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Springs Cemetery.

Bear was born in the Pine Springs community just north of Tyler on July 16, 1928, to Ed and Beatrice Kelly.

He was a Christian and member of Pine Springs Baptist Church for 70 years, where he served as deacon and was active in many other capacities. He worked as a car man for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 45 years. Bear's passion was his family, and his hobbies included farming, gardening, reading and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Beatrice Kelly; brothers, Ernest Kelly and Harold Kelly; sisters, Mildred Bagwell, Pauline McCollum, Marguerite Barron and Christine Alston; and dearest friend, Don Wagner.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Kelly; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jeff Gage of Longview; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Karl and Jannabeth Kelly of Lindale, and Todd and Susan Kelly of Lindale; grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Yielding, Tyler and Gregory Kelly, and Mason and Peyton Kelly; great-grandchild, Breonna Yielding; and a host of close nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews Roy Bagwell, Bill Bagwell, Jimmy Barron, Mike Barron, Paul Kelly Barron and Dana Kelly, and friends Don Ragsdale and Ralph Jolley.

Honorary pallbearers will be nephews Ricky Barron and Roy Ed Kelly, friend Cecil Lackey, the Senior Men's Sunday school class and deacons of Pine Springs Baptist Church, and members of NARVE.

The family will receive friends at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23.

The family would like to thank Hospice of East Texas, all of those who have visited, provided food and helped at the house in Bear's final days, and especially Ricky Barron, who tirelessly supported the family in so many ways.
